THE DARGAH

About the Dargah

A fort-like shrine on the banks of the Pushpavati river, remembered by people of every faith.

A shrine at Unava

The Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Saiyad Ali Mira Datar (Radi Allahu Anhu) stands within a fort-like enclosure in the village of Unava, on the banks of the Pushpavati river in Mehsana district, Gujarat. Unava lies about 5 km from Unjha Railway Station on the Western Railway.

The name Mira Datar carries its own meaning: Mira for courage, Datar for the one who gives. For generations, people of every faith and background have come to this threshold to pray, to remember and to find quiet.

Why people visit

Visiting a shrine is, at heart, an act of remembrance and humility. Visitors recite Fatiha, offer salaam, make dua and sit in stillness. Some come with a vow, some in gratitude, and some simply because their family always has.

Many describe the atmosphere through its details: the fragrance of roses and loban, lamplight, and the low murmur of prayer. We describe it plainly and leave the experience to you.

The Khadim families

Hazrat Saiyad Ali Mira Datar (R.A.) did not marry. The Dargah’s khidmat has been carried forward through the family lineage of his elder brother, Hazrat Saiyad Abu Muhammad.

Mohammad Hanif Miya Latif Miya belongs to this family lineage and is presented on this website as a senior / main Khadim (Mujawar), a point of guidance for visitors seeking Dargah information, customary ruhani guidance and help with visit arrangements.

Preserving the heritage

A living shrine needs care: its walls and courtyard, the Urs gatherings, and the simple hospitality offered to every visitor. This website exists to share accurate information and to help visitors arrive prepared and behave with respect.
